Happy Sunday! ☀️
I believe in being kind to yourself, and that includes the things you say to yourself. You should do your best to say positive and helpful things, and minimize the negativity. I truly believe that. But I also believe that sometimes you have to tell yourself to STFU.
While I was away on my vacation/BTS tour, I had to do just that. I can’t even remember what was going on in my head, but I do remember that it was getting pretty negative up there. Maybe I was hangry, or irritable, or tired, or whatever. But I can clearly remember I was spiraling with negative thoughts. I also clearly remember that I stopped myself in my tracks, took a deep breath, and screamed (in my head) to SHUT UP!
I said, “shut up and stop complaining and realize how lucky you are, and how grateful you should be to be experiencing what a million other people wish they could be. Shut up and remember that you have people who love you and are happy for you and you have so much to be thankful for. Just shut up!”
And when I tell you, my attitude almost immediately shifted. I could feel it. I laughed a little at myself, and smiled, thinking about where my head was at just moments before. I share this because we’ve all heard how powerful our minds are, and I wanted to give you a real life example of it. It was a time that I felt like I needed to say something to stop the negative cycle of thoughts swirling in my head.
There are times when I believe we need to replace the negative thoughts we’re having with positive ones. It helps to shift the focus. And then there are other times when we need to give our brains a little tough love. I had never done this before, or at least I don’t remember doing it, but knowing how powerful it was for me, it won’t be the last time.
Hope you have a great week full of happy thoughts. But keep that “shut up” card in your back pocket just in case. Lol
Positively yours,
Pebbles 💜
