Happy Sunday! 🍂

Over the years, I’ve gone through the ups and downs of accepting my body. Recently, I’ve been in one of the down times. It really bothers me when I get in this headspace, but I have to say that having gone through it many times before, I’m learning how to get out of it a little easier and faster. Most of the time, the getting out period starts with a little wake up call.

First let me back up for a minute and give a little background. For me, talking about my body, or anyone else’s, is one of my least favorite subjects. The self-judgement, the magnification of flaws, the negative character trait associations. You know what that’s like. “Ugh, I’m so lazy (or undisciplined, incompetent, etc.), because I’ve gained some weight.” I don’t even like commenting when people lose weight unless I’m very close to them and know their specific situation and how they would view it coming from me. I know it’s a shocker to some people, but everyone doesn’t like comments about their body, whether you think it’s good or bad. The only reason I’m bringing it up here is because I did something that started to snap me out of this and I think it could be helpful for anyone else feeling this way about their body, or any other aspect of themselves.

I’m currently in Vegas to see BTS (yes again, mind your business Lol). As I was getting ready and got out of the shower, I just got this weird wave of negative thoughts about myself, and knowing how I can spiral at times, I had to stop it. So I looked into the mirror at myself, from head to toe and said out loud, “I refuse to hate you.” I don’t know where it came from but it was clearly what I needed to say. I repeated it several times until I felt like I truly absorbed its meaning. “I refuse to hate you.”

We have enough of the outside world telling us how and why we should hate things about ourselves. We can not be one of those voices. “I refuse to hate you.” Probably one of the most powerful things I’ve ever said to myself and will no doubt continue to say when I get in that negative headspace again. I think what comes after that, has to be the positives. “I refuse to hate you.” Why? “Because you’re kind, because you’re passionate, because you are caring, because you have a beautiful smile.” Keep going.

Not sure if anyone else is going through this, and I hope you’re not, but remember it if you need it. “I refuse to hate you.” And tell yourself why.

Hope you have an amazing week!

Positively yours,

Pebbles 💜
