Happy Sunday! 🌻
As I’m writing this, it is almost midnight on Saturday. Yes, just 8 hours before this newsletter is supposed to hit your inbox. I have spent all week trying to figure out what I wanted to say today, and it felt like both a million things, and nothing, at the same time.
I have so many friends, family members, and other acquaintances who are currently going through it. Not just a momentary tough time, or a temporary struggle, but an overwhelming, life-sucking, can’t catch a break or a breath, time. Caregiving, illness, death, financial struggles, etc. And as I thought about what to say today, I thought about them and about how many of you reading this, may be going through the same thing. Sometimes, those good news stories (although I love them), encouraging words, or positive vibes, just aren’t enough.
So as I think about the people in my life going through it, and you as well, I want to share some of my thoughts, with the hope that something may resonate with you and help you. Thoughts for the people going through it, and thoughts for people who want to help those struggling.
To those of you who are feeling tired, overworked, pulled in too many directions, and are hanging on by a thread, I wish I could hug you and make it all better. Find the huggers in your life, and ask for a really good long one from them. It’s not going to make your problems go away, but there is something really healing in a sincere hug from someone who cares about you.
I also want to say thank you. I don’t even have to know what you’re going through and who you’re doing everything for, to know that you will never hear thank you enough for all that you are doing. I say thank you because your efforts and good deeds to take care of your situation brings light to our desperately dark-feeling world.
And this one is really important. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. You may not even know what it is that you need, but when you have a moment of clarity and a chance to come up for breath, think about what you could use help with, big and small, and write them down. The next time someone asks how they can help, pull out your list and ask. I still believe in the goodness of everyday people who really want to help. I’ve even seen strangers on the internet helping others. Ask your friend to go have coffee with you and let you vent, ask someone to run that errand that you have been putting off for weeks. Just ask, and when someone offers, accept.
And for those of you who have the time/energy/resources to help family and friends, do it. I promise you, it will mean the world to them. The thing that you think is “no big deal” is a chance for someone else to breathe a little easier. Drop off some food or flowers, offer to go grocery shopping or cook something for them, check in on them, send them that funny video to lighten their mood, offer to listen to them get things off their chest. People going through it just need to know that someone is thinking about THEM.
I don’t know if any of this helps anyone, but I hope that whatever burden you may be carrying, gets lighter. Do what you can to take care of yourself. You deserve love and care too.
I wish you a peaceful and light week with sprinkles of joy all around you. ✨✨✨
Positively yours,
Pebbles 💜
